December 1, 2025 — Carmody MacDonald P.C. has named Tina Babel as the firm’s first-ever Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel, effective January 1, 2026. She will transition from leading the firm’s litigation practice group to overseeing the firm’s operations and strategy, including human resources, training, facilities, business development, marketing, employee engagement, risk management, and related administrative functions to ensure efficient day-to-day operations and alignment with the firm’s strategic goals.
“Historically, many of these responsibilities have been centralized under our Executive Director,” said Brian Behrens, Carmody MacDonald Co-Managing Partner. “While this structure has served us well, the demands of our continued growth have made it clear that this more specialized leadership model will better support our mission, our people, and our long-term success.”
As General Counsel, Tina will also be responsible for the firm’s legal and ethical matters, including risk management, compliance with legal ethics and rules, and overseeing the firm’s contracts and insurance. These responsibilities were previously managed by several Carmody MacDonald attorneys.

Tina Babel joined Carmody MacDonald in 2005 and has focused her practice on Trusts and Estates Litigation, Business Litigation, and Mediation. In her new role, she will also continue to concentrate in the areas of probate and mediation. Tina is a graduate of the University of California, Hastings College of the Law (now the University of California College of the Law, San Francisco).
