Overview

Mary Niemira has practiced family law for over 25 years. She focuses her practice in divorce, complex asset and custody cases, modifications and enforcement of existing judgments, orders of protection and related appellate practice. She is of counsel at Carmody MacDonald and was a partner at her previous firm, where she had practiced since 1993.

In addition to a traditional family law practice, Mary has completed additional training as follows:

  • American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML) Negotiation Seminar co-sponsored with the Harvard Law School Program on Negotiation, Cambridge, Massachusetts (2019)
  • AAML 40-Hour Mediation Training Course, Chicago, Illinois (2019)
  • Collaborative Law Training by the Collaborative Family Law Association of St. Louis (2018)
  • ABA Family Law Trial Advocacy Course in Houston, Texas (1999)

Mary has been named on “The Best Lawyers in America” list for family law since 2018. She has co-authored CLE materials for state and local CLE programming over the years, as well as the article “Domestic Tort Claims in the Context of Divorce” published in ABA Family Advocate in Fall 2016.

She received her law degree cum laude from the University of Missouri School of Law in 1992. During law school, she was inducted into the Order of the Coif national academic honor society, and she was awarded American Jurisprudence honors for achieving the highest grade in three law school courses. After graduation, she served the Missouri Court of Appeals, Eastern District, as a clerk to the Honorable Stanley Grimm.
