Overview

Phillip Schranck joined Carmody MacDonald in 2025 as an associate in the corporate/transactional practice group. He focuses his practice in the areas of business law, tax, estate planning, real estate, and mergers and acquisitions, bringing a detail-oriented and analytical approach developed through hands-on experience at both an accounting firm and private law practice. Before joining Carmody MacDonald, he worked as a State and Local Tax Associate at a Big Four accounting firm, where he prepared multimillion-dollar refund claims, performed multistate tax research, and drafted appeals and disclosure agreements for Fortune 500 clients across various industries. He also brings prior experience as a law clerk and a real estate paralegal, supporting litigation and transactional teams in drafting legal documents, conducting discovery, and managing complex commercial closings.

Phil earned his J.D. from the University of Missouri School of Law with a concentration in tax. While in law school, he received the Michelle Arnopol Cecil Award in Tax and a CALI Award for his top performance in Partnership Taxation. He also gained valuable experience through a judicial internship with U.S. District Judge E. Richard Webber and participated in the Entrepreneurship Legal Clinic and Tax and Transactional Law Society. Phil also earned a B.S. in Agricultural Economics, cum laude, from the University of Missouri.
